they're both bottlenecks, doing one won't help much without the other unless you have one of the later spyders with the va already drilled larger.

Hrmm, I'm currently stuck at 250 and I can't get it any higher, even with paint matching at .679 sizer...I've polished the hammer too...

Right now I have:
-CCM Reg at 400 psi
-Magnaport valve
-Freak back
-Spring kit (stock valve, medium spring from 32 degree spring kit)
-15 degree reverse frontblock, holes are already large
-Polished hammer

The only thing I can think of is maybe the volumizer? I replaced the one on the front block with one from another spyder that has less volume but it matched the gun. Could it be that?

Am I forgetting anything?

Depends on how the VA is designed, but having a big volumizer to be able to shoot low pressure causes shoot down when you shoot fast.

Are you using a stock shaped valve pin? Grinding it down can make bigger differences than a valve body change. Best way to do this is to chuck the valve in a drill(I used a corded hand drill clamped on a vise), and use a small, round file to shave the pin down.

You don't have to shave it that skinny. I had it thicker at first, saw a big difference, then tried to see how skinny I could go. I've been running it like that for a while @ 425psi with no problems. I could go down to 300 and still shoot 300fps, but I wanted to stay at the top of the sweetspot.

Mine seems to be working fine now.

I am able to get above 300 fps with the following setup:

https://www.mcarterbrown.com/forums/1327077-post51.html

The Vigilante (LP) is set as high as it can go (450psi or so). I am using the orange (heavy) hammer spring from an Extreme Rage spring kit. Stock valve spring, all internals otherwise stock.

It is still quite loud, and 'kicks' a bit. That may be inherent in STBBs... any ideas to calm the shot down?

stuck at 250, maybe use a harder spring or higher input pressure :/

I'm using one of those hitman venturi bolts from APP...it might be that, it's not an open face bolt, probably crappy flow. I'll swap out the bolt and see how it goes.

The valve bit is already trimmed I believe. I'll double check that too.
