Minimalist Hurricane?

My one desire in paintball is a magfed "speedball" marker, smallest package I can get to play the game with. Since that doesn't exist yet and making one is my only option atm I'm thinking a minimalist Hurricane ala the Engler Phenom is my best/easiest option.
So two questions/issues have come up since this popped in my head.
- The Hurricane has only two lower clamshell bolts vs the Phenom having 3 plus the bolt for the cyclone. Could this be cause for concern structurally?
- The Hurricane shells are cast with a large cavity above the valve which will leave a large gap when machined. Could this also be cause for concern structurally or will filling it with a strip of aluminum and affixing it be fine?Name: IMG_20180519_163056.jpeg

I dont see an issue with the valve being exposed/ blocking it with strip of aluminum... and 1 less screw works fine in the huricane variant...

I have been toying with this idea as well but just removiny everything not neccessaru and possibly throwimg it in an airsoft body... possibly bullpup...

What do you consider the criteria for a magfed "speedball" marker - does it need programmable ramping and an electronic trigger or?

TL;DR hole size controls how fast balls get spent

Nope, could be mech. Just love the sleek compact body style that tourney markers all have with consistency and efficiency.
Basically this but using T15 or TMC mags or w/e:

I don't think removing material from the body will affect it at all. The valve body is held in place by a tiny plastic tab and a small plastic double o-ring plug. Remove those things and the valve slides out the back.

Can you do it and make it still look ok? maybe?

The major role of the clamshells is to hold the breech in place and hold the grip frame in place. As long as the barrel is held concentric with the bolt and its spring, and the on/off pin is pressed by something (had an idea kicking around to do a pneumag style frame for the Phenom but it wouldn't change much for me in the way of feel.

As long as you have the front screw there on the top, can probably mill off the rest of the top of each shell half. You'll need to make sure the core can't wiggle around so don't expose too much of it.

In all seriousness, you may have an easier time doing a DAM magwell plus an Automag trigger frame, somehow adhered to an upside-down Ion/eNMEy/Stryker core. Constant pressure to the rear port, vent the rear port to fire and reapply pressure to reset. If you've got an Axe/MiniGS frame that might work too, just need the pneumatic switch, since the frame's ASA will bring down the pressure to more usable levels.

I've made a minimalist Phenom, and just filled the gaps with JB Weld. Covering it with duct tape would do the job - you just need to keep the dirt and paint from getting in and gumming up the works.
