Bug-a-salt shotgun from Cabelas

Bug-A-Salt 2.0 Fly Shooter Yellow : Cabela's

I know this is not a paintball item, but i thought the crowd here would appreciate this thing. 1 its a gun, #2 pump action, #3 gravity feed hopper, #4 no battery.

What is it?

A plastic toy shotgun that shoots table salt. Feels like the build quality of a higher end nerf dart gun.

Why would I want to shoot puffs of table salt around the house?

Well this thing kills bugs at a range of out to 3 or 4 feet.

How did Moses688 come across this thing?

My mom has been having so much fun killing flys and yellow jackets that I had to have one.

Performance:
At 1ft range a housefly is splattered, 2ft dead and beat up, 3ft dead and mostly intact, 4ft maybe dead maybe stunned take a close range shot to make sure its dead.

Pros:
This thing is fun! I blasted a wasp, knocked him down then had to take 2 more finishing shots to put him down. It was pretty tense got a little bit of a bunker move feeling

Hopper holds like 80 shots (3 or 4 tbsp of mortons salt)

"Skip shot" if a fly is on the window you can make a low angle shot at the window and the salt bounces and kills the fly on the bounce.

Chamber loaded indicator, nice touch.

Cons:
Safety resets after every shot, so you need to get in the rhythm of pump, then thumb the safety fire pump repeat. Especially if your going after a stinging bug.

The sights are kind of useless, the rear sight doubles as a chamber loaded indicator. Better off aiming down the barrel, but paintball guys should be used to that.

Overall think this thing is great!
It gets a "12 out of 12 grams of CO2" rating from me.

Thanks,
Moses

Could it be converted to fire paintballs?

I'd get one of these but, I'm not a fan of salt crystals on the wood floors and then getting stepped on.

You sold me instantly, plus videos of dudes killing scorpions. Just got it today. Quick prime shipping. But WTF, no bugs to found for target practice. Seems pretty solid for a plastic POS. I'm excited to eradicate bug vermon.
