Current MP3 players?

What are the good ones out now?
Of course I have a smartphone, but I also have a 32gb Walkman which is superior in every way as a music player.
But its battery is starting to go. 30+ hours of playback new, now I'm lucky to get 2 or 3.
So I'm looking for what the good ones are now, because they seem to have discontinued most of the lineup. Anything left is $$$.
I prefer to not have a touchscreen, since I like to be able to change things without taking it out of my pocket or my eyes off the road, and I'm not even considering an iPod--I've had one, and the sound quality and battery life were vastly inferior to the $40 Walkman I had at the time.
Plus their software is just plain unrepentant garbage. Even compared to the outdated Sony software I'm still using.

Looks like Sandisk makes a few decent and affordable mp3 players. Some even are expandable for storage. I can't speak for the sound quality, but if I were in the market for a non-apple product, I'd give that a serious look.

Why not just replace the battery in the Walkman unit?

I'm considering that. But my research suggests it's soldered in and there aren't any exposed screws so I haven't checked for myself.
If I get fed up with it enough, I won't have much to lose.

Otherwise, I'll be doing research on those Sandisk ones. I do have one by them already, but it's a cheapie and isn't all that inspiring.

Sony is the only normal name brand that still makes some.

The creative zen muvo goes up to 1gb and has no Bluetooth but it uses a AAA battery so it has a long lifespan. It also uses like ysb 2.0 so it isn't quick. Best of luck!

I use a Sony NW-A45. It has a touch screen unfortunately but it also has real Play, Skip, and volume controls so you donít always have to wake the screen up just to pause like an iPhone.

The sound quality and overall balls from this unitís headphone jack are better than anything else I have except maybe my Marantz 2230 (loud enough to kill) and that canít play Super Audio CD rips or go on trips.

Battery life is not amazing, neither is the clunky interface and all the moronic surround DSPs they offer, but sound is next level. You can really mess with the EQ and it wonít clip or pump like most digital EQs.

My favorite thing about it aside from the sound is that if literally cannot connect to the Internet so it cannot play ads or bug you about updates ever.

That one has a built in usb device you pull it out of the player body like a flash stick

2gb is the largest capacity they made

they take a AAA battery.

So just get that.

these ones only go up to 1gb but are later model so smaller. They need a usb mini cable to plug in. Still take AAA battery. This model also has FM radio which is great.
