Pirate Stock from Noxx

I am not a Lance hater, not do I plan on being one. I do have a beef with some current work. I got this stock from infamoussmiley who owed me a stock. Noxx owed him a stock, so I just agreed to take that one when it arrived. After over a year, it showed up. Smiley told me that it wasn't that great of work, but I figured we would not be seeing anything else from Noxx so I would take it.

This thing is a piece of crap and not good for anything but firewood.

I hope this is not the quality of work that Lance is currently producing. I realize that his life has hit the fan, but I would hope he would rather not send anything out if it wasn't his best work.

I guess in the end, I am just quite disappointed with it.

Good lord, I hope the levers came out better than that.

It definitely looks half done. There were a few posts from people saying that they would take a half finished stock in order to get their levers done and back. Maybe he took that as everyone would take a half finished piece over nothing.

I agree that it seems he was trying to copy those, but it would never had matched them. Way too rough. The hole for the trigger isn't even centered on the body.

That was how the stocks were last I saw them, rough cutouts and unfinished. Don't know if he's just sending them out to people like that (I know some people on here volunteered to do the work on theirs, maybe he assumed others would do so as well) or what. As far as what wood it is, I can't remember exactly since it had been a long time since I last spoke to him, and even longer since he discussed it with me. Sorry about how it turned out man, I could see if maybe I could be allowed to go over there and see if he has any others that might be more finished, but I doubt any of the pirates did. Last I knew there were probably 5 stocks that were sanded and in the middle of getting finished as far as the scratch builds went, and all of them were rifles.

Don't know if it'll help with wood ID, but here's a pic of mine after I sanded everything down, with a couple coats of clear varnish on it:

The rough carving on the majority of the stock can be fixed/finished without an issue. Where I see the big problem is around the back plug/RVA where it's clearly been cut too much to properly shroud the end cap. There's not much you can do with that to get it to look right without starting completely over.
