Crossout - Free to play game

Crossout - A post apocalyptic game similar to Steve Jackson's Car Wars pencil and paper game, with a very Mad Max feel to it.

Crossout by Gaijin Entertainment

The user support page has videos on how to play and a FAQ.

So the questions is... Has anyone else played/is playing this one?

I've been messing with it for a bit, and it is fun. You build a "car" by arming and armoring it. Then take it out into a team melee to earn more stuff to build bigger, badder cars. The controls are a bit annoying to me, but then again, I am an old school gamer, and the concept of turrets has get to sink in

I played it for a bit on beta with the Xbox one. It was fun for an hour or so, but then the grinding for parts and levels started getting boring, and it is VERY repetitive.

It's fun, but you need a group for the most enjoyment.

Agreed on the grind and repetitive part.

Maybe they need a "larger" free roam map.

I like the build system. It is pretty good, though I would like to be able to reshape armor so it looks a little less MadMaxian.

One of the current frustrations I am experiencing is the massively overpowered opponents. When you are looking at a vehicle with a PS of 4900+ and you can barely build a PS3000 vehicle, you get discouraged to join in the PVP stuff.

Had a streak of 29 loses last night. Then I decided that doing something more productive would be fun... SO I started cleaning up the shop.

Yeah it's become a Steam game I played a little before encountering the pay to win wall - back to XCOM & SPAZ

Agreed... lot of pay to win going on there. They need to rethink their business model. It will drive players away.

It looked interesting but I lost interest when I saw it was a free game.

I'd rather spend the $30-$60 on a game not to grind or incrementally pay to play. I'd consider buying it if that was an option.

My current plan is not to bother paying anything for it. You can grind your way around paying.
