I'm a Samsung fanboy.

Quantum Dots if you want better color.
Not-Quantum Dots if you want better black levels.

I'm thinking about getting a Quantum Dot Curved Screen as my gaming monitor.
MS response time for sammies are getting better, around 20-40 I think.
The one I currently have is like 120 in regular mode and 80 in gaming mode.
Less than 10 MS response time is only important if you want to go "pro" for gaming, anything else is pretty fine for casual gaming

i am going to wait a little while to save up some funds.
maybe wait until black friday...

but, is there any negative to getting a vizio?
i've read the customer reviews for vizio but i'm guessing most vendors have crappy customer service.

with that said, would getting a service warranty for any unit be mandatory?

I've never read any reviews to be honest, but I've always thought Vizio puts out a good screen for the money.

Extended warranties don't tend to be worth it in most cases, in my opinion. Usually they cost more than 10% of the product price...way too much. Many credit cards have extended warranty coverage on products purchased through them. You might look to see if any of yours do.

If you know how to run a screw driver and dont mind spending an hour or two, all TV repairs are super simple. Usually, there is only 3 boards in them. I have yet to find a TV board that was not purchasable online. My dad has fixed countless TVs for under $75.

Beware of Black Friday doorbusters, they are NOT the same models sold throughout the rest of the year. Lower quality components are used in place of normal components. There are deals to be had but the good stuff goes quick.

p8ntninja is spot on about the Black Friday deals marketing different models. 9 times out of 10, Black Friday electronics are manufactured solely for Black Friday, using inferior components and very low quality control. The goal of most Black Friday deal manufactures is to get shear volume out for that weekend. Now, as far as TVs go, I love Vizio. I have one that is going on 12 years old now and the only issue is the power button on the unit itself sticking. That was a 1080i LCD unit. My main TV is a Vizio 1080 LED unit, no issue as of 2 years now. In my opinion, if you want the best picture, the Sharp Aquous line is top shelf and should be looked at. I have had issues out of the box with 2 Sammys, so I personally don't like them but a lot of people say they are great. Guess my main point is, I would never buy a TV or electronic device on Black Friday. "Good Deals" stopped years and years ago on Black Friday. There isn't anything marketed on Black Friday anymore unless it was meant to be sold on Black Friday. Businesses have exploited Black Friday to no end.

Ah yes, now I remember. They probably do what Intel does with their cpus.

Instead of throwing away chips/components that do not meet their specs; due to manufacturing inconsistencies, they just stick those components in a lower end model.

Intel sells these low spec chips at a loss, but at least not a total loss. So if you ever wondered why Intel prices are all over the place for chips that have slightly different specs, this is why.
