Underboring a TPX

So what do I need to know about underboring a TPX. I hear that the bolt snags in the barrel if you do that. If so I could probably make stepped inserts for a freak barrel so they don't do that. Thanks.

The bolt does NOT enter the barrel, unless stainless steel changes properties and elongates when used in a paintball application.

We looked at this problem, and conclusively proved the bolt does not enter the barrel. All you need to under bore is an A5 barrel, some time to Freak bore it in my shop, and some Freak inserts of the appropriate size.

Right we looked at it. But I'm still hearing from other people that they've had bolts snag.

Odd... It is easy enough to test... I can freak bore an A5 barrel tonight. I will bring that and a .670 insert on Sunday... It will either work or not.

I already did the test. I have a freak bored barrel at home. Got a 674 insert. I took the breach put of my pistol. Screwed the barrel on with the insert and inserted the bolt with the bumper oring frlm the other end and pushed as hard as i can. Bolt didnt stick. And with the return spring in place during normal usage the bolt doesnt go in as far.

Smallest i shot with it was 679 and no bolt jams.

Interesting....I wonder where the scuttle butt is coming from regarding sticking then? Perhaps an older version or something?

RidingMac, I was pretty sure that was the case. Thank you for confirming it.

I will however add this.

I did get a bolt jam once. I dont however thing it was related to freak inserts. I was using 684 insert. Had a bit of rain that day and was testing the milsig pmc mags. Follower jammed and chopped a ball. Balls were somewhat wet and rubbert. The shell of the ball made the bolt jamm in the barrel. I believe a stock barrel or any other barrel would have had the same results.
