Fulda Gap 2018 November 2nd-4th 2018

Fulda Gap '18
Scenario Paintball Game

(click on the link to go to the game webpage)
November 2-4, 2018
PLEASE NOTE THE DATE CHANGE. FULDA GAP 2018 will be the FIRST WEEKEND of NOVEMBER!!! Fulda and World Cup swapped weekends for 2018.

Welcome to 2018's Fulda Gap Scenario Event!!! In 2017, 2x winning NATO General Eric Engler (of Engler Paintball Guns) tied to the Warsaw Pact General, Richard "Mamba" Money, in the only absolute tie Fulda Gap has ever had! This year General Engler will be pitted against General Mamba for what everyone is calling the rematch of the decade.

The 2017 Fulda broke all attendance records, with over 1500 participants and 16 tanks. The 2018 game is expected to be even larger than that. This will make the 13th running of Fulda Gap Paintball.

Registration is open through Scenariosupply.com - links to pre-register are found under the NATO or Warsaw unit pages and next to/under each specific unit. This software will automatically close units when they reach their limit caps. Pre-register before July 15 and get your paint at a $10 per case discount! Pre-registration saves you money, gets you on the side and unit you prefer, and helps us to plan. Pre-registration will open on June 1, 2018. PLEASE PRE-REGISTER!! Tiered pricing goes into effect after that but spaces on units will also start to run out. DON'T WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE!If you haven't experienced Fulda Gap in the past - DO NOT MISS 2018's game.

Our field is in the foothills of North Carolina - just outside of Hickory. We PRIDE ourselves on making this game ABOUT THE PLAYER. We love our teams, and sure - celebrity appearances are great - but what we like most is people coming together to share in an incredible weekend of the sport. Parents can feel COMFORTABLE introducing their teens to a big scenario event at our game. We invite vendors who SUPPORT THE PLAYER. We invite up and coming vendors with new product to introduce to THE PLAYER. We will always be a primitive field, with few bells and whistles, to keep the costs TO THE PLAYER reasonable, and affordable. We want YOU to have a safe, fun, as-drama-free weekend as possible - which includes GOOD AIR FILLS (we are once again contracting our air to Quickshot Paintball), GREAT PAINT TO SHOOT, REFS WHO DO THEIR JOB, and of course - camaraderie among all who attend.

Fulda Gap has been widely published and ranked in the TOP 8 MUST ATTEND EVENTS in in paintball by a number of international publications! Get on YouTube and search Fulda Gap videos - our tank battles are EPIC. Come battle alongside or against them on the field! We welcome teams to come and use this exercise as a way to prove and refine their skills! We have teams that have been attending this game for the past 12 years we've held it!

Both food and product vendors will be on site, and primitive camping areas will be available (sorry, no RV hookups). Camping is FREE but limited so plan to get to the field EARLY. Our field is approximately 20 minutes away from Hickory, North Carolina which has numerous hotels - should you so choose not to camp. Keep checking back as we will continue to make updates to the registration information, vendors, rules, commanders & units, etc., as we close in on the event.

The Flounder 07-07-2018 03:46 PM

So who is in this year, what unit are you playing for?

Axel and I are playing for the 172nd on Warsaw. If you have not registered yet the price goes up after The 15th of July.

Alive 07-07-2018 09:03 PM

Hoping to make Saturday at least, school and work makes anything difficult.

Come fight with us on Saturday!

Saint_TGM 07-07-2018 10:21 PM

I'll be there again! Warsaw, but not sure which unit...

Edit: Just signed up for 172 Guards

Rainmaker 07-08-2018 04:25 PM

I really want to make it out to this game! Not sure if I'llbe able to at the moment, work schedule is up in the air. Do you guys camp out when you go?

The Flounder 07-08-2018 04:33 PM

Camping is a great part of the game but I think we are going to hotel it this year just to keep the amount of gear in the car to a minimum (carpooling this year)

I like the camping part too. One of the problems with staying off-site is the wait-time to get in. the field is off of a small road, and the parking infrastructure on the field property itself is barely sufficient. Last year, it took forever for folks arriving the day of to get in and parked, so much so, that they had to delay start of game by a whole hour. If you're able, I highly suggest camping!

DranDran 07-08-2018 09:11 PM

I'm going to try and make it, never been though. Need to know how much paint to buy lol

Raleighpaintball.com 07-08-2018 09:25 PM

As for paint - I normally switch back and forth from pump to mech. I shoot about a case each day. Back about 5 years ago when I did Electro, it was about 3 cases to get thru the weekend. I enjoyed playing on each side of the field, so not sure who to sign with. Last year I played along side team Backlash. They were a good group of guys that I might try to track down again.

Goat 07-09-2018 12:18 AM

Registered, 117th Warsaw.

cfos00 07-09-2018 12:42 AM

We're switching sides, as the General for NATO is having my team raise hell in Sim City. I'll see you out there Flounder :)

GanonsGrin 07-09-2018 07:12 AM

I am trying to figure out if anyone from our crew will be there this year, and I will update when I figure something out. Itís been about 3 years since I played, and Iím itching to get back out, but the new job and work schedule isnít as flexible as it used to be.

Sounds like it will shape up into another good turnout for Carters Commandos again though!

Axel 07-09-2018 12:00 PM

Ahhhh!! You and super-cameron absolutely have to come to this game! No exceptions! :p

The Flounder 07-09-2018 01:23 PM

Just completed registration for Warsaw 172nd.

We should try to get an MCB group photo at this event this time.

Saint_TGM 07-09-2018 01:30 PM

Come pay for Warsaw!

As for paint, I do fine with one case for the event. But that's mostly playing pump with a little mech at the end just for grins and giggles...

netsurferdude2 07-11-2018 12:27 PM

Ill see if I can make this game work.

Mr.Rush 07-11-2018 02:42 PM

Sadly I've already committed to playing on NATO with my local team but I hope to see you guys out there. I'll probably camp unless the girlfriend comes along. If that happens I'll be at the red roof inn

Playing Warsaw again this year with the Florida Ballers group. Each year we grow larger. I think we are up around 30 or so this year.

Axel 07-12-2018 01:08 PM

Help us fill up the 172nd!! I want our general scratching his head wondering what's so special about this unit that it sells out four months early :D

Rainmaker 07-12-2018 02:55 PM

Any suggestions on convincing my wife that I need to go to this? Ha ha.

Networking with like minded individuals for future employment opportunities.

Axel 07-12-2018 03:10 PM

Butter her up good and go in for the kill. Figuratively, of course. On both counts.

Your options, in order of money --> time, are basically:
1. Jewelry
2. Flowers
3. That chore she's been bugging you to finish
4. Explain that the Proletarian cause needs every available hand to fight for the 172nd

Are you day drinking, sir?

Goat 07-14-2018 07:03 AM

Ah ha ha

Axel 07-18-2018 02:37 PM

I am pleased to announce that courtesy of The Expandables paintball team, a limited number of unit patches will be made available to players of the 172nd Guards Motorized Rifle Regiment. This being the Soviet system, they are free of charge and will be distributed to each player according to his need, but--remember, Soviet system--supply is limited, and we will run out if the registration cap is reached and we go into overflow. I have no way to favor early registrants and will simply be handing them out at the game. I do reserve the right to a little corruption and favoritism. Soviet system.

https://i.imgur.com/TQ0rjpdl.jpg

They are Velcro hook backed so all you will need to do if you haven't already got space for such patches is obtain a piece of 4" Velcro tape and sew or glue the loop side wherever you would like to display it.

I received an OK from the unit commander and XO to make the patches, but this project is otherwise completely unaffiliated with the game organizers and the host field.

The Flounder 07-18-2018 03:34 PM

Very Cool! Makes me glad I already have a spot in the unit.

Dusty Bottoms 07-19-2018 05:17 PM

I'm interested in making this! I just joined the TN chapter of the SAS scenario team, not sure if any of them are going. If I show up to camp, how do people usually shower/bathe over the weekend?

We just stink. Wet wipes are your friend.

Dusty Bottoms 07-20-2018 10:52 AM

Fair enough. What's the lowdown on the Port-a-John situation? How bad does it get? Are there close places to eat and grab snacks for the game?

The Flounder 07-20-2018 11:20 AM

There was a food vendor there last year with decent food at good prices. There are convenience stores nearby as well as grocery stores and restaurants within 5-10 minutes in Bethlehem. Put CDWC into the search bar of Google Maps and then you can search the surrounding area.

The food truck was decent. there were port-a-johns everywhere a few got manky but most were ok. There is a Bojangles pretty close by and a walmar/strip mall about 20-30 minutes away.

Dusty Bottoms 07-20-2018 09:56 PM

Thanks guys! I can live pretty lean in general, so I don't need to many amenities, but it's cool to know they're there.

From the videos I've seen, is most of the action just taking place in that big open field, or is there alot of woodsball happening all the time too? Everybody stalemated out in the open just longball ramping on each other didn't look as fun to me as big woodsball battles would be.

The Flounder 07-20-2018 10:23 PM

Lots of action in the woods if that is your thing. The field gets the most camera coverage because it is the easiest to shoot from a photographer perspective. The missions in this game help encourage movement and good firefights.

Goat 07-22-2018 12:58 AM

Actually I'd say the majority of the action was in the sticks.
That open field is only a portion of the field.

Parking/camping was tight last year. Don't expect to arrive late and have much real estate.

cfos00 07-23-2018 12:29 AM

Second that on the camping/parking. It's a massive lot, and absolutely packed.

Awesome! What would you say would be early to the field? Would 12ish on Thursday still be considered early, or no?
