Angel A1 Leaks

My A1 leaks from the front of the breech area, and also the bolt sticks forward on almost every shot. I did replace the breech seal (it was missing). But it has been more than a decade since I've worked on any Angels, and I probably forgot all I knew about them.

Did you replace the ram with a rebuildable ram?

sounds like the ram needs to be check out.
there are a few stock-rebuilbable rams on ebay.
also the new V2 predator rebuildable ram is being sold.

might be the front cup seal as well. (possibly)

do you have a way to check the hpr and lpr pressure?

you might also check that the ball detents aren't causing bolt stick - or if the eye covers are cracked. as others mentioned, it's likely the ram seals are bad.

Did email Brad, he said Ram also or pressure problem, I do actually have LPR Pressure Tester and HPR Pressure Tester, I was getting ready to post up a large "Angel Stuff" for sale thread and these were among the stuff I was going to list..

If you're going to keep the A1 don't sell the test gauges.

Is it leaking from the exhaust port (the hole with the breech seal)? And is it only doing it when the bolt sticks or does it also do it when the bolt and ram are at the rear position? If it only does it when the bolt and ram are forward then the valve is probably fine, and the issue is probably with the ram. It's also possible that the bolt pin has loosened up and come out slightly. That can cause bolt stick and mimic ram problems. Just holding the bolt and pressing the pin very firmly against a solid block of wood. But if it hasnt been used in years the ram is probably toast. The o-rings and internal bumper go bad. Buying a rebuildable ram is the way to go unless you're a machinist. $70 is the going rate. Some of the guys that modify rams will modify your ram for $40. Stay away from the Rams on Ebay. Jake Bernyi or Bob Casselberry in the Angel groups on Facebook are the "go to" guys. But the new Predator rams are also highly recommended.

If it leaks through the exhaust port as well you probably have a bad cup seal on top of a bad ram.
